Sonia grew up and still lives on her family’s Century Farm in rural Haywood County, just outside of Brownsville. After a career as a graphic designer and many years of event planning and volunteer work, Sonia took the helm of the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center in 2010. Since that time she has worked to preserve and promote the rich heritage of the region through the Center’s focus on music, natural resources and agricultural history.

In 2012, she was instrumental in saving the childhood school of Tina Turner, Flagg Grove School, and now oversees the worlds only Tina Turner Museum located on the grounds of the Delta Heritage Center. Sonia also serves as lead tourism person for Brownsville and Haywood County as the Director of Visit Brownsville TN.

Over the years, she has earned certifications as a Travel Marketing Professional, Certified Tennessee Tourism Professional and Certified Festival and Event Planner. In her combined positions, she oversees more than 20 festivals and events annually as well as hosts a regular Songwriter Spotlight series and is co-host of a weekly video blog, Brownsville AS Is!, that spotlights points of interest in Brownsville and West Tennessee. Both series are available for viewing on YouTube and Facebook.
