The City of Brownsville was awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000.00 (no matching funds required) from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture 2018 Enhancement Program to build a pavilion that will provide shelter for vendors to sell their product. The application was submitted November 2017 and was awarded February 2019.
The addition will potentially aid in the promotion of more revenue, diversity, and inclusiveness of practicing healthier behaviors, arts, culture, and community. Implementing this project will allow Brownsville to become more culturally attractive to potential new businesses, tourists, and residents that may choose to migrate to our area while potentially boosting our economy, business development, and job creation long term.
Farmers Markets are a Tennessee tradition. Consumers can find almost anything their heart desires from fresh fruits and vegetables to fresh flowers and crafts. The Brownsville Farmers’ Market is a nonprofit organization, sponsored by The City of Brownsville and Brownsville Main Street Association. We also work in conjunction with C3 and other affiliates, such as Healthy Moves and the UT Extension, to help further advocate healthy living.
The Farmers Market is located at 1030 East Jefferson. If you would like to be a vendor at the Brownsville Farmers Market, contact City Hall at 731.772.1212.
