JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Packaging Technician

Basic Function: The Packaging Technician reports to the Converting Manager; however is expected to take directions from the Machine Operator. The Packaging Technician must be able to pick up, visually inspect for quality, and pack into bags, dispenser boxes, and master shipping cartons for standard product rate for eight (8) hour shift. The Packaging Technician will be responsible for setting up correct bags, dispensers, shipping cases, stacking finished cases on pallets, and applying exterior packaging materials. The employee must be willing to be cross trained and become efficient in another job classification. The Packaging Technician must be a quality conscious individual who understands the importance of product appearance to IFC’s customers.

Essential Duties:
• Setup necessary bags, labels, dispensers and shipping cases based on production specifications.
• Responsible for knowing the component combination for each product and how they are assembled.
• Responsible for proper inner and outer package counts. Maintains accurate log of cases completed per shift.
• Must act as final inspector of finished goods to insure that all packages meet predetermined manufacturing specifications.
• Performs other duties such as stenciling boxes, moving product, removing waste from work area, end of shift clean up.
• Must become functionally competent in another job category, at the direction of the Converting Manager to act as a substitute.
• Works overtime as necessary (assigned by Converting Manager).
• Must be clocked in and report to their machine at 6:00 a.m. (for first shift) 2/24/11
• Packer will wear designated PPE as required.

Requirements:
• Must have ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds + all day.
• Must have mental and manual dexterity: must maintain a high level of concentration to inspect products being made.
• Must be able to meet or exceed minimum production standards.
• Will be able to work in Sample Room directed by Converting manager.
• Must maintain clean and orderly work area and adhere to all safety regulations and accepted work practices.
• Recognize that in a company as small as IFC, employees will sometimes have to work in different areas of the plant and that the phrase “That’s not my job” is not applicable here. We do what we have to do to get product made and out the door!
