Greetings and Salutations:

I and the Board of Aldermen would like to welcome all tourists, as well as, those visiting from near and far for family reunions to our city. We are ecstatic that you have chosen our fair city as your host destination for your travels. July is here and so is the summer heat! Please remember to stay cool and hydrated; and please continue to show Acts of Kindness by checking on our elderly.

We have had several excellent events over the past few months and would like to direct your attention to utilize the City’s Community Calendar of Events to get an overview of some of the featured events that are being held in our community. If you would like to submit an event please feel free to submit all pertinent information with a reliable person to contact for your events.

“Healthy Moves” Health and Wellness Initiative, along with sponsors Blue Cross Blue Shield and Clay and Land Insurance, Inc. will host Mayor Rawls second annual Health and Wellness Fair on July 18, 2015 beginning at 8:30 am until 12:30 pm at the Boys and Girls Club of Brownsville, TN located at 127 North Grand Ave Brownsville, TN 38012. Although we do not have a viable hospital we seek to offer preventative screenings in an effort to continue services to our constituents at no cost. We want to continue providing basic, yet essential health screenings (blood pressure checks, BMI, diabetes, etc.), as well as, a variety of exhibitors designed to help the community become aware of the many health-related programs, services, and providers located in our community. Instead of focusing on the problem we mean to provide an adequate solution in the midst of a major need.

Finally, the International Riders and Rockabilly Music and Cultural Festivals is a month-long celebration of the music, food, agriculture, history, and cultural arts providing you with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy our historic and scenic highways and byways, whether by motorcycle or car throughout West Tennessee. The City of Brownsville will celebrate during July 16-19, 2015 with Summer Jamz. For more information please browse the website at http://www.ridersandrockabilly.com or contact Sonia Outlaw-Clark at the Delta Heritage Center at 731-779-9000. The focus for July will be food, music (Blues, Rock & Roll, Soul and more) and FUN!

Thank you for your support.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact myself via email at [email protected] or (731)432-1796 or for specific concerns pertaining to your area of residence, contact the Alderman that represents your ward.
