Due to the increasing amount of delinquent city property taxes, The City of Brownsville will begin taking action to collect the delinquent amounts. Each month that property taxes are delinquent, a penalty of 1.5% is added to the property tax, which causes the amount to increase each month the taxes are owed.

Effective May 1, 2022, all delinquent property taxes will be listed in the Brownsville Press by the property owner’s names, number of years of delinquent taxes and amounts owed.
