Bluegrass Jamboree features musical history of the genre

BROWNSVILLE TN (October 7, 2023): The Hatchie Bottom Bluegrass Jamboree is set for Saturday, October 14, at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, Brownsville. In its sixth year, the Jamboree features bands from across the region and this year will include a special musical journey through the history of Bluegrass. The free concert will take place on the outdoor stage from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“It’s not a genre we talk a lot about,” said Sonia Outlaw-Clark, Center director, “but its presence in the region is undeniable. We are happy to help showcase the incredible talents of these Bluegrass musicians and help preserve this music tradition.”

A special feature this year will be Cecil Yancy’s History of Bluegrass presented through song and story. The jamboree also includes the following bands in order of performance: J-Town Rambler (11am), Mikaela Langley(12pm), Cecil Yancy (1 pm), Grassfire (3 pm) and the Hatchie Bottom Boys (4 pm). Shade tree pickers are invited to participate before the stage performances and on the main stage from 10 -11 a.m. John Few, producer of the Golden Circle Opry and longtime bluegrass enthusiast, will emcee the event.

Bring your lawn chairs and appetites and enjoy the free afternoon concert. Tete’s Food Wagon will be on site with a variety of food choices.
