Sherry Batchelor, City Clerk

The City Clerk’s Office assists the public in obtaining information in order to maintain the integrity of an open government. The City Clerk is the custodian of the City seal. The Office is responsible for preparing the Board of Mayor and Aldermen agendas and minutes, maintains City documents, agreements and the City Code.

The City Clerk’s Office also serves as the City’s fiscal custodian and is responsible for managing the Accounting, Purchasing and Budgeting operations. The office collects all taxes, fees, and fines owed to the City. An independent firm selected by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen audits the financial records annually.

The City Clerk’s office provides specific services to the operating departments including payroll, administrative services, inventory and fixed asset control, budgeting and financial reporting.

Alicia Brathwaite-Shields, Human Resource

Alicia Brathwaite-Shields joined the City in November 2022 as a HR Clerk.  She has progressive experience in Administration for over twenty-five plus years. Her professional experiences include, executive level management, strategic program management, training/employee development, resource and budget forecasting, organizational development and employee relations. In every role throughout her career, she provided strategic business partnering to senior leadership as well as managed employees. It was in these roles, she identified her career direction of an HR Professional.
Alicia started her HR journey by pursuing a Certificate in HR and obtaining the various levels all the way up to a BA in HR from the University of Greenwich, UK.
Alicia believes the foundation for her profession is to develop strong relationships both professionally and personally.
