BROWNSVILLE TN (May 24, 2023): The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center and Tina Turner Museum is deeply saddened by the passing of international music icon and Haywood county native, Tina Turner.

“Tina Turner was an iconic inspiration who we have been so honored and privileged to work with at the Tina Turner Museum,” said Sonia Outlaw-Clark, Center director. “As a Haywood County native, she is undoubtedly the best representation of the incredible life that one can create when you put in the hard work and grit to follow your dreams no matter how many hurdles are thrown in your path. We are so fortunate that we shared our timeline with this record breaking, trail blazing performer, songwriter and a human that personified perseverance. Thank you, Tina, for embracing and sharing your talent with the world. You were truly ‘the best’ and will certainly be missed.”

Plans will be announced in the coming days to commemorate the life and legacy of Tina Turner on the site of her childhood school, Flagg Grove, at the Delta Heritage Center in Brownsville.
