Dunbar-Carver Museum

Brownsville’s Dunbar-Carver Museum, located at 709 East Jefferson Street, chronicles the rich African American heritage of the town. The Dunbar-Carver Museum is the centerpiece of the town’s proposed Jefferson Street Historic District that is currently under review by the Tennessee Historical Commission.

The Dunbar-Carver Museum tells the story of African American life in Haywood County TN through portrayal of events associated with the one hundred plus year existence of the Dunbar-Haywood County Training-Carver High School in Brownsville.
