Trick or Treat with Me returns to Brownsville
Brownsville Tennessee (OCTOBER 8, 2021): Trick or Treat with Me, a tradition started 14 years ago by the Brownsville Business Association and halted last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, is back under the direction of Visit Brownsville TN. Brownsville and Haywood County merchants invite area children, age 12 and under, to “Trick or Treat with Me” on Friday, October 29, from 4-6 p.m.
“This has become one of our community’s favorite events among children and adults,” says Visit Brownsville Director Sonia Outlaw-Clark, “and we are happy to be able to bring it back this year.”
The annual event offers a safer alternative to traditional trick or treating by allowing children to visit local businesses instead of going from house to house. Merchants remain open a little later in the evening to welcome the children.
New this year is an opportunity for individuals to participate. A dedicated site will be available for trunk or treating. The space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
“No parent wants to take their children trick or treating in a neighborhood they are not familiar with,” says Outlaw-Clark, “this way the kids get to experience the excitement of going door-to-door and the parents can feel safer knowing the merchants have the best interest of the children at heart.”
“Trick or Treat with Me” is open to children ages 12 and under and includes businesses all across the city. Each child is encouraged to dress in his or her favorite costume and parents are asked to accompany their children to each location, practice social distancing and allow families and groups in front of you time to move safely from business to business. Parents will recognize participating merchants by the purple and orange “Trick or Treat with Me” poster in windows. Over 20 businesses stayed open late for the 2019 event.
For a complete list of participating businesses, follow Visit Brownsville TN on Facebook or call 731-779-9000. If your business is interested in participating, you can also call 731-779-9000 for more information and to be added.
